Software

georef

With this software you can change the shape of a scanned image. Georef will relate a raster image to a user coordinate system and generate a new raster image that makes a “best fit” to the new coordinate system. Neighboring images can also be match up perfectly. Further, you can  clip out as many sub images as you want from one image and reference each part separately. You can choose between different transformation methods, get transformation reports on calculated expected deviations in the new transformed images. The product can work with inches and metric units.

Input:

  • Scanned raster file of maps or drawings.
  • Image on TIFF format in binary, color or grey scale.

Functionality:

  • Interactively define reference points and add coordinates.
  • Automatically positioning of reference points by recognizing the grid. Quicker and more accurate than interactive positioning.
  • Automatically add edge points of a grid with calculated world coordinates.
  • Four types of reference points: corners, edges, known points (as trig points) and grid crossings.
  • Automatically generate grid points
    • Layout of grid points reflects shape of the base points.
    • World coordinates added automatically.
    • Optionally add points along edges.
  • Define clip area automatically or interactively. Clip areas defines sub image to be extracted. Rectangular or free form clip area.
  • Optionally define multiple georeference areas in the same image.
  • Each georeference area can be referenced separately and result in
    • A transformed, clipped and optionally masked image file. (TIFF).
    • A transformation parameter file (TWF)
  • Transformations
    • Affine
    • Helmert
    • Rubber sheeting
    • Collocation
  • Efficient quality control tools to identify possible errors in reference points (wrong position, wrong known coordinates)
  • Generate a Transformation report. The report contains
    • Calculated error for each georeference point in pixel coordinates and world coordinates.
    • Transformation parameters for each georeference area.
    • Administrative info as name of operator, date and time, SW version, transformation method.

Output:

  • Transformed image files, one for each user defined clip area.
  • Output formats:
    • TIFF (image files).
    • TFW (transformation parameters).
    • TXT (ASCII, transformation report).

Platform requirements:

  • MS Windows/XP and upwards, LINUX Enterprise
  • standard PC with sufficient RAM
